Have you ever thought about how much water you could be wasting through leaks throughout your plumbing system? According to some estimates the average home loses around 20 gallons of water every day from water leaks, but there are some homes that lose a lot more than that, even up to 90 gallons.

Fixing these leaks can both save you money and prevent water damage from leading to expensive problems. Usually, leaks will start small and then increase over time, so the quicker you can find and stop them, the better.

So where do you want to look for leaks? One area which we have spoken of in the past is around your faucet. It could be the faucet itself is faulty and leaking, or there could be a connection that isn’t sealed well.

Another common source of leaks that is easy to miss is your water heater. If you have a home maintenance schedule, you should make sure that inspecting the water heater and the area around it is on there. If you see puddles forming anywhere near the water heater, get it serviced as soon as possible.
