One major bathroom issue is toilet leaks. Before you replace the toilet, you should learn how to identify the issue and where it’s coming from because you might still be able to fix it.

The fill tank is usually the root of the problems. First, you should check the water level. Always make sure that you are following the manufacturer’s recommended water level.

There’s also a possibility that the internal fill valve diaphragm seal is damaged. If this is the case, replacing the fill valve is a fairly easy fix.

Check if the flapper is leaking, this will cause the fill valve to keep refilling the tank.

To test if the flapper is leaking, use a few drops of food coloring on the tank. Wait for 25mins and see if the color spreads into the toilet bowl to confirm a leak.

You might be able to fix a leak by simply cleaning the flapper if you notice any sediments. Cleaning it up might do the trick. If the flapper is clean but there is still a leak, you have to replace it. Once you rule out these things and the leak is still there, then it might be time to consider replacing the whole toilet.
