You turn on the tap in your kitchen, fill a glass of water, and drink it down, thinking nothing of it. Do you know though, what is in your water? Any water you drink will have some pollutants in it, whether it is from a bottle or a tap. The question is, are they within safe levels or not. If you’re connected to the municipal water supply, then there will be reports available to show you what pollutants are in your water, and what the safe levels are.

However, if you have a private well, then there are no federal regulations for the water quality. Since your drinking water is essential for your health, you need to do some research on your own. You can obtain standards for most common contaminants from the Environmental Protection Agency. They also have information of the health risks associated with these contaminants.

To find out the quality of your well water, you need to either send it in to a lab for testing, or you can obtain a water testing kit and do it yourself.
