So, we’ve probably all thought of it. When it comes time to add water to your pool, why would you pay to have it delivered when you could just take a hose from your faucet and fill it up for free. So, is that a good idea? Well, there is not going to be a clear-cut answer to that question. Of course, it can save you quite a bit of money to use your own water source, but there are some questions that you need to know the answer to first.

First, is there a risk that you could drain your well using it to fill the pool? If you’re in the middle of a long dry period, the likelihood of this happening is heightened. The same is true if you are sharing a well with your neighbors. While you might be ok with a water shortage, they might not be happy to have their water run out without warning.

You also want to consider whether the water will need treatment after it’s been added to the pool. If the water in your well is hard, it could cause filters and pipes to clog up.
