For some homeowners, it feels like no matter how often they clean their bathroom, there is still an unpleasant smell in there. What could be the cause? Well, there are many possible reasons, but here are a few of the more common ones.

Mold – Of course, you expected this one to be on the list, but there are places that you might not think of that could be the cause of a smell. The tile grout in between the tiles in your bathroom could grow mold and so could your shower curtain. Scrubbing them out might take care of your problem.

Air – The air in your bathroom needs to move. Your ceiling fan will do a lot of the work, but opening up a window can do wonders for stale smells in the bathroom.

P-Trap – If you have a p-trap in your bathroom that for some reason isn’t full of water, you will have sewer gasses leaking right into your home. If there is a drain that isn’t used frequently, that could be your culprit.

Garbage – It could be something as simple as something organic sitting in your garbage. If you don’t use a bag in your bathroom garbage, consider doing so, or at least clean out the inside of the garbage can every so often.
