Have you noticed that your toilet tank seems to take a long time to fill up, or maybe not filling up at all? There are a few different reasons why this might be happening, but taking the time to examine what is going on could help you fix the problem.

The first thing to check is naturally the water supply. It is easy for a curious child or someone who is cleaning the area around the toilet to accidentally turn off the valve for the water supply. If it is partially turned off, you will notice a slower fill of the tank, and if it is completely shut off, of course, you won’t have any water at all coming into the tank.

Another possibility is debris in the supply hose. This can happen when sediment gets into your water lines. To check if this is the problem, you might need to detach the supply hose (after you have turned off the valve of course), and then turn the water on with the hose in a bucket. That way you can see if there is sufficient pressure.

There could also be a problem with the mechanism inside the tank. If you have an older toilet that uses a float ball, it could be the culprit. If you flush the toilet with the lid off of the tank, you can observe how it fills up and you might be able to spot where it goes wrong. Naturally, if you need any help, we’re just a phone call away.
