How much do you know about your bathroom faucet? You might not have installed it yourself, and you might not consider it much if it works fine. Do you know its flow rate, for example? Flow rate is the measurement of how much water the faucet dispenses per minute. If your flow rate is too high, you might be wasting a lot of water every time you wash your hands. Finding out your flow rate is fairly simple. You can use a regular measuring cup, preferably a larger one to get a more accurate measurement, to determine your flow rate. If you can fill up 10 cups in less than 20 seconds, then your flow rate is too high. If you have a different measurement, you can just figure about 2 seconds per cup as the flow rate that is too high.

To lessen the flow rate of your faucet, you should replace it with an aerated faucet. That way you can get a flow rate that is below 1.5 gallons per minute while still being able to clean your hands effectively.
