Having a clogged drain is sometimes an inconvenience, but other times it could even lead to serious damage to your home when a sink floods. There are some telltale signs that you can keep on the lookout for to nip the problem in the bud. If you notice any of the following symptoms, you should take steps to get the clog removed.

  • There are strange gurgling noises from your drains.
  • When you run your sink, the toilet bubbles.
  • Water drains out very slowly
  • Drains back up
  • Puddles form in your shower

While these could also be indications of other problems, the most likely culprit is a clog. Removing a clog can be fairly difficult depending on how large it is, as well as, what it consists of. If there are a lot of fats in a clog, such as in a kitchen, its water repellent quality makes it difficult to dislodge. Don’t just pour chemicals down the drain to try to remove the clog. This could damage your pipes, and if you were to pour chemicals down the drain and then try to plunge it, you might have chemicals spray in your face.
