Are you in need of a well pressure tank. First of all, if you need help with it, please contact me and I will be happy to assist. If you want to do it on your own though, here are a few things that you will need to know.
First of all, the proper size tank is important. A bigger tank is almost always better. But for the average home under 1,500 sq ft and two bathrooms, a 32 gallon tank will usually be sufficient.
After that, you will need to know what parts you will need. Here is a short list, and these items are usually right next to each other in the hardware store:
- A check valve
- a “T” pipe
- A well pressure switch
- A pressure relief valve
- a pressure gauge
- a cleanout valve
- a shutoff valve
- and whatever piping, fittings, and other items you will need to connect them.
After that, you start putting things together. First in line you add the check valve before anyting else inline witht he main pipe. That connects to the pressure relief valve and well switch which are connected to the T pipe. On the other side of the T pipe you will have your cleanout valve and your pressure gauge. After all of that you should install your shutoff valve.
Remember that your well tank has air at the top of it, and bad pressure in there could ruin your tank. You should keep the head pressure about 2 psi below your lowest well setting. So if you have your well set to 40/60, the air pressure should be 38 psi.
