Is your shower-head leaking? Is it dated and looking ugly? Would you like to have a handheld shower-head instead of an old fashioned one? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you most likely would like to replace your shower-head. Fortunately, doing this is very simple, but if you want to make sure you don’t have any leaks or even worse, have your shower-head disconnect, then there are a few simple steps you need to take.

Removing your old shower-head should be fairly uncomplicated, but there is a possibility that corrosion has ruined the threads and made the shower-head stick. If this is the case, and the shower-head won’t come off even with the help of a wrench, don’t put too much pressure on it. You could seriously damage the pipes in the wall. You should contact a professional to take care of it. Before putting a new shower-head on, clean of the thread well, preferably with a wire brush. Don’t leave any old teflon tape on the thread. Put some fresh teflon tape on and make sure the rubber gasket is on there. Don’t over tighten, since this could damage the shower-head.
