Do you have galvanized plumbing in your home? If you do, then it is like having a water balloon over your head – you know it will burst, you just don’t know when.

Galvanized supply lines were very popular for many decades, and have been used in hundreds of thousands of homes. So what’s the issue?

Galvanized plumbing corrodes – and it corrodes from the inside. So the first symptom that many people experience is reduced water pressure. Sometimes this reduced pressure is at one sink, or a shower, or even one side of a sink. That is because the corrosion is making the inside diameter of the pipe smaller and smaller over time.

The next issue is that the corrosion that is happening can’t be seen. So if you end up getting a leak, it is almost always to late. Where the thin areas of the pipe are, it is just like a metal water balloon ready to pop.
