One thing that you might not expect to read about in a plumbing blog is your fridge. You might wonder what type of plumbing your fridge has, and the answer is it doesn’t… unless you have an ice-maker in your fridge. If you do have an ice-maker, then there will be a water line leading to your fridge. While it isn’t a line that will see a lot of use, there are some conditions in which you will need to keep this in mind. Say, for example, that you are planning on moving your fridge to a new location. Before you do this, you will need to either figure out a new place to hook up the water line or consult a plumber to pull a new line. If your fridge needs some repairs, you will most likely need to turn off the water supply before you work on the fridge.

Sometimes this can be a little tricky, however, since the shut-off for your fridge might not be easy to find. It might be possible to trace the water line back from the fridge to where the valve is located, but if this is not the case, there are a few common locations where it can be found. You can check underneath your kitchen sink where it would be located near the cold water line. There might also be a cabinet near your fridge where the valve is located.
