We all get irritated when we have a faucet that just keeps on dripping. That incessant sound can drive anyone nuts, but that is not the only problem with a leaky faucet. You are also wasting water. While it might seem like it shouldn’t be too much water wasted if there are just drops of water coming out, just one drop every third second will add up over a year to about 1000 gallons of water. While we might have what seems like an unlimited supply of fresh water here in the US, that doesn’t mean that water conservation isn’t important. We never know what the future might bring.

So what can you do about a faucet that constantly drips? Two options are repair or replacement, and you could do either yourself. To repair your faucet, you will need to know how it works, and that is beyond the scope of this article, but in short, you are likely dealing with a bad washer, spring, valve or o-ring. All these parts are replaceable and can be obtained in a hardware store. If you are not up to the work, you do always have the option of replacing the faucet all together. A third option is to call a plumber for assistance.
