In the summertime, it is nice to pour yourself a refreshing, ice-cold glass of water. But for some people, the water coming from the tap might be disappointingly luke warm. What might be the cause? There are a few possibilities, and much of it depends on what type of system you have. If you leave your cold water running for a while, and it cools down after some time, this indicates that there is a spot between the source and your tap where it stands and gets heated up. This could be due to uninsulated pipes running through a hot area, or cold water pipes and hot water pipes sitting too close together.

If your water heats up more as it runs, it could be a different cause, such as a problem with your water heater or possibly a malfunctioning faucet that sits before your faucet on the same water line.

You could run a test by disconnecting the cold water line from your faucet and check if the water coming out of the water line is cooler. In that case, the problem is most likely right there at your faucet.
