There are some projects in your bathroom that require the aid of a plumber, but there are others that do not. Take replacing your toilet seat for example. This is a relatively simple job that can be done by anyone. Having a cracked, discolored, loose or just plain old toilet seat can ruin your bathroom experience. Replacing it really just involves replacing 2 bolts. Most toilet seats are made in the same way with slight variations.

The first step would be to find the bolts that attach the toilet seat to the toilet. Often you will find that they are underneath a plastic cover that will pop out when you pry at it carefully with a flathead screwdriver. The bolts that you find underneath can then be removed, but usually you will need a second tool to hold the nuts on the other side in place while unscrewing the bolts. You should clean the area underneath the seat well, since there might be a lot of stuff that ended up there that couldn’t be cleaned up while the seat is in place. After that you can install your new seat. You should make sure that the seat you get matches the shape of the old one, since there are a few different styles available.
