One of the most frequently used areas of a home is the bathroom. The bathroom needs to be appropriately maintained depending on the climate, and this doesn’t only mean scrubbing and changing bathmats. Here’s a checklist for thorough bathroom maintenance.

Bathroom Floors: The bathroom has foot traffic just like your kitchen, which also needs cleaning. Whether your bathroom floor is carpeted, made of wood, or linoleum, be aware that it is usually getting wet, so watch out for any molds, hair, and debris that needs removing. Treat it as how you treat other high-traffic areas in your home.

Shower Doors and Shower Curtains: You might find white films or black molds at the bottom of your shower curtains and doors if you haven’t been paying attention. Now is the time to scrub, clean, or replace them if needed.

Bathroom Sink Maintenance: Did you know that bathroom sinks are dirtier than kitchen sinks? Ensure that you check any leaks and scrub the sink at least once a month.

Toilet Maintenance: It will be a difficult job if you are not cleaning the toilet regularly. Put a dry rag around the base of the toilet to test for any water leaks from time to time. You would also need to check the back of your toilet to make sure that everything is working correctly, and if not, you might need to figure out whether you can fix it yourself or need to have a plumber fix it for you.

After checking these things, you can now assess if your bathroom is in good shape or needs a total remodeling which would require a lot of work.
