While water supplies aren’t limited for most of us, wasting water is a bad habit that we still should avoid. Here are 3 habits that most of us have been guilty of at one time or another that really are unnecessary.

  1. Leaving the water running while you are brushing your teeth. Many just leave the faucet running while they are brushing their teeth, while they in reality only need it at the start and the end of the process. Save some water and turn it off in between.
  2. Running the water in the shower constantly. This one might be a contensious issue for some, but in reality, you are wasting both water and soap when you leave the water running constantly in the shower while lathering up. If you only run it when you need to rinse off, you save both water and energy.
  3. Waiting for the water to heat up at the faucet. This is a problem that you can actually do something about. Unless your faucet is located very far from the water heater, it shouldn’t take an excessive amount of time to heat up. It might be that you have an issue with your water heater, or some other problem. It could also be time to look into a tankless water heater.

These are some of the most common things that people do to waste water. Cutting down on our water usage is not just good for the environment, it can be beneficial for your bills at the end of the month as well.
